Putting Your HDTV to Use
There's no need to confine your TV shows to that tiny screen. Let your HDTV get some use and display those shows for you. It's easier to do than you may think. All you need is a USB to HDMI adapter.
This adapter will connect to one of the many USB ports on your laptop and will provide another video port on your computer. This adapter has an HDMI port that can be used to connect to the HDMI port on your TV.
Flexibility
Once it's all connected you can set the converter to either show a mirror image of the laptop's display, or you can run it as a separate extended display. With it mirroring the laptop's display you will see the same thing you see on the laptop monitor. This means if you're watching something on your laptop, it will show up on your TV just the same. If you decide to enable the extended desktop mode you can show your video on your TV while browsing the web or doing anything else you want on the other screen. This way your computer isn't tied up with just displaying the video.
